MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Some 338,893 doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines have been administered to Pangasinan residents as of Friday.

Based on the latest data from the Pangasinan Provincial Health Office (PHO), some 153,685 Pangsinenses were inoculated with the first dose while 77,447 have received the full dose of the vaccines.

Meanwhile, 107,761 Pangasinenses were immunized with one dose or considered full vaccination of the Janssen vaccine.

Of the total number of doses, 88,426 were administered to frontline healthcare workers, 157,439 to senior citizens, 85,856 to persons with comorbidities, and 7,115 doses to essential workers in frontline services, and the remaining doses were given to other priority groups.

The PHO said the total doses translates to 17.16 percent of the total targeted eligible population of Pangasinan at over 1.9 million population.

PHO chief Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman, in a statement on Friday, said there is enough supply of vaccines for the next two weeks in the province as some of the local government units (LGUs) with bigger populations can vaccinate 500 individuals per day or 200 to 300 daily, for those with lesser population.

She said senior citizens are given priority in the vaccination rollout while the other priority groups who want to be vaccinated can be accommodated by the LGUs provided that there are available supplies left.

Meanwhile, de Guzman urged the public to be watchful, be alert and be well-informed amid the threat of the Delta variant of Covid-19.

“Aside from strictly sticking with the health protocols like wearing of facemasks and face shields, physical distancing and frequent handwashing, it also important to ensure proper ventilation at home and at the workplace and avoid mass gatherings,” she added. (PNA)
