MANILA – The Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) aims to learn from the expertise of the Netherlands in constructing the Clark National Food Hub.

In a statement Monday, the CIAC said its president and chief executive officer Arrey Perez joined the Philippine delegation to Amsterdam last week for a market sensing and observation mission.

The delegation met with officials from the Netherlands’ Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, who presented a briefer on agrologistics.

The Philippine delegation learned from Dutch officials the need for timely delivery of the right product under the right conditions to consumers, necessitating modern, technology-assisted, and cost-efficient logistics management, quality control, and transaction facilitation.

“The Philippine delegation is in the right place as the Netherlands' robust agricultural sector and innovative agrologistics capabilities is a center of excellence in trade facilitation and technological innovation in the world,” Dutch Director-General for Foreign Economic Relations Michiel Sweers said.

The Netherlands is the second-largest exporter of agricultural and agriculture-related products and a premier logistics center in Europe.

The Clark National Food Hub is a 60-hectare project within the Clark Civil Aviation Complex, aimed to be the country’s premium wholesale market and distribution source of high-value and top-quality food products.

The project costs PHP8.5 billion.

“The National Food Hub is a flagship project in this vision of an Airport City, and our contribution to national development,” Perez said. (PNA)
