MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – The city government of Iligan has launched a mobile application for disaster risk reduction mapping and response and intensified its campaign to the barangay level.

In a video feature posted online Friday, Armien Aloro, chief of the Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction Management (ICDRRM), said the "eCitizen PH" application is an innovative approach to disaster response.

"We are trying to be proactive in responding, as we have to respond in addition to the limited telephone hotlines that we have," she said.

Aloro said through the app, residents can send reports or seek help using mobile phones. The ICDRRM technical support staff will locate in real time sites disasters, whether man-made or natural occurrences.

She explained that once a report is submitted within the app, the central system would receive the data, verify and respond to the incident.

Aloro said its implementation in downloading the application will be brought to the barangay level to increase downloads.

The launching of the app is one of the Iligan City government's commitments to a digital transformation agenda, where it aspires to achieve "Smart City" status. (PNA)
