MANILA – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board - National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) will hold consultations on current minimum wage rates starting Thursday, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the DOLE said consultations with labor and employer sectors are set on May 23 and June 4, respectively, while a public hearing is set on June 20.
"Thereafter, the RTWPB will decide on the propriety of adjusting the minimum wage for the region," it said.
The move complies with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to the RTWPBs during the celebration of Labor Day to initiate the timely review of the regional minimum wage rates “within 60 days prior to the anniversary of their latest wage order.”
"Following the President's directive, the DOLE, through the National Wages and Productivity Commission, issued a resolution on May 6, directing the RTWPBs to commence the timely review of wages," it added.
The last wage order, issued by the Metro Manila wage board, took effect on July 16, 2023, raising the region's minimum wage to PHP610. (PNA)
