LEGAZPI CITY – The Bicol Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) has placed the region under a "blue alert" status as part of the preparation measures for the low-pressure area (LPA) that is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone on Friday.

In a memorandum issued by Claudio Yucot, RDRRMC chairman and Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional director, said with the blue alert status, all response agencies shall place their respective emergency operations centers on 24/7 operation and closely monitor the possible effects of the weather disturbance.

These agencies are tasked to do "immediate dissemination of weather bulletins and advisories to all Barangay DRRM committees for prompt information spreading in the communities, and report any untoward incidents about the effects of weather by sending a signed situational report to the RDRRMC operation center," Yucot said.

He said local DRRMCs must update their hotlines on their respective websites, social media pages, and other public profiles for easy and timely coordination and communication.

He added all response teams must be on standby for possible deployment.

Yucot further said all LDRRMCs should coordinate with the Philippine Coast Guard to issue a localized "no sailing policy' especially for the fishing sector once the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issues a gale warning advisory. (PNA)
