The notice of the Coast Guard Station (CGS) in the islands of Dinagat and Siargao in Surigao suspending sea travels effective Friday morning  (May 24, 2024) due to Tropical Depression Aghon.

BUTUAN CITY – The Coast Guard Station (CGS) in the islands of Dinagat and Siargao in Surigao del Norte have suspended sea travels effective Friday morning due to Tropical Depression Aghon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the weather disturbance will bring moderate to rough sea conditions, or about 1.5 to 3.0 meters of waves, to the eastern seaboards of the Caraga Region.

"All trips of vessels and watercraft with 300 gross tonnages and below are suspended," the CGS Dinagat Islands said in its notice to mariners.

In a separate notice, the CGS Siargao Island and Bucas Grande Island also issued notices of suspension of travel in their areas of responsibility on Friday.

The CGS stations reminded all vessels and watercraft allowed to travel to take precautionary measures and be extra vigilant in monitoring the existing weather conditions.

Other coast guard units across Caraga have also taken proactive measures and activated their respective deployable response groups in preparation for emergencies. (PNA)
