DAVAO CITY – As of this month, the city government’s Barangay Caravan of Government Services (BCGS) has catered to 34,495 residents with around 35 local and national government agencies participating in the event.

In a statement Tuesday, the City Information Office said the caravan has served almost 50,000 clients since its first implementation in 2022.

“The BCGS first took place on July 18, 2022, and is part of the City Mayor’s Office initiative of making government services more accessible to every Dabawenyo by taking them closer to their doorsteps,” CIO said.

Meanwhile, apart from the BCGS, the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko (BSP), a weekend caravan of government services scheduled on Saturdays, was launched in January this year to cater to more residents.

“We conduct the BSP on Saturdays since most people are in their homes on weekends,” Maida Saez, deputy project-in-charge of the BSP, said.

This month alone, the BSP assisted 5,678 Dabawenyos with the participation of 40 local and national government agencies.

Additional caravans will be conducted in the upcoming weeks.

“Dabawenyos may refer to the city government’s Facebook page and their respective barangays for the caravan schedules,” Saez said. (PNA)
