CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) allotted PHP66.21 billion for infrastructure projects in Northern Mindanao (Region 10) and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

In a statement Wednesday, DPWH-10 Director Zenaida Tan said the total appropriation for the ongoing "Bagong Pilipinas" infrastructure flagship consists of 1,589 projects: 704 road projects, 149 bridges, 185 flood control, 17 drainage and slope protection, 58 water supply, and 476 public buildings.

"Out of 1,589 projects implemented, 1,485 projects are for Northern Mindanao while the other 104 projects are for the BARMM, which their regional office serves," Tan said.

The Panguil Bay Bridge Project, which will connect Tubod, Lanao del Norte to Tangub, Misamis Occidental, is the biggest of the six DPWH flagship projects.

The 3.17-kilometer bridge project, costing over PHP7.3 billion, is now 92 percent complete and is expected to be passable by August this year.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is upgrading the Camiguin Airport facilities to an international standard.

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri authored the upgrading of the airport, with DPWH earmarking PHP700 million for the project. (PNA)
