GUIUAN, Eastern Samar – Construction of the mini-amphitheater in Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) – Guiuan campus has been completed after two years.

The first phase started in 2022 with an initial funding of PHP5 million lobbied by Eastern Samar Lone District Rep. Ma. Fe Abunda to the Department of Public Works and Highways.

The budget funded the construction of foundations, columns, and platforms.

The PHP30 million funding for the second phase was released in 2023 with the help of House Minority Floor Leader and 4Ps Party-list Rep. Marcelino Libanan.

“This new amphitheater is not just a building. It is a testament of our collective vision, hardwork and dedication to provide a holistic and enriching environment for our students and community,” ESSU president Andres Pagatpatan said on Thursday.

The facility has a 245 seating capacity which can host various school activities.

“This new amphitheater will be the center of various activities that will be provided by our university. Here, cultural performances, seminars, gatherings, and other activities will take place that will expand our knowledge and progress,” Libanan said in his message.

He said more facilities will be added in ESSU – Guiuan to ensure that the educational facility provides better education and produces quality graduates.

Before the completion of the mini amphitheater, ESSU Student Council president Gene Acosta said they only hold events at the function hall which can only accommodate 50 people. (PNA)
