CEBU CITY – Acting Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia on Tuesday called on city residents to brace for the rainy season and help the city’s Task Force Gubat sa Baha (war on flood) in its effort to address flooding.

Garcia said he wants the purchase of declogging machines to speed up, following the suggestion of the task force’s chief implementer, Melquiades Feliciano.

Garcia said Feliciano presented on Monday the plan of the task force in its fight against flooding in the city.

“The task force is on top of the effort to address flooding in our city. Chief implementer Feliciano has presented a plan on how to do it,” the acting mayor told the Philippine News Agency.

During his presentation, Feliciano explained to Garcia that declogging machines are needed for the manual cleaning of drainage systems, canals, and streams.

Members of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Department of Engineering and Public Works, and the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (PROBE) team will comprise the drainage cleanup. (PNA)
