ILOILO CITY – Two separate anti-drug operations yielded a total of PHP7.28 million worth of shabu and arrested 10 suspects in Iloilo province on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Operatives arrested a fishpond caretaker identified as alias Ronnel, 28, at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, in Barangay Lawis in Balasan town.

Some 704 grams of shabu worth PHP4.7 million was seized from the suspect.

In a separate operation, members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) confiscated 17 sachets of shabu weighing 380 grams with a price estimated at PHP2.58 million.

Nine suspects, including a 19-year-old female, were arrested at 2:55 a.m. in Barangay Tagbak, Jaro, in this city. 

RPDEU team leader Capt. Ryan Christ Inot, in an interview,  said they are now in the process of determining the sources of their drugs.

The suspects are in the custody of local police detention while cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against them.  (PNA)
