SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Commission on Elections (Commission on Elections) catered to 211 applicants who took advantage of the holiday and registered in their respective municipal election offices on Independence Day.

“There were 211 voters who have registered, mostly of whom through the satellite registrations,” Provincial Election Supervisor Salud Milagros Villanueva said in an interview on Thursday.

She said Comelec offices are open even during the holidays to accommodate registrants for the 2025 midterm elections.

The municipal election offices held off-site registrations in barangays Lanag, Calala, and Dangcalan in Hamtic; Intao, Mauno, Banban, and Magyapo in Laua-an; Zaldivar in Pandan; and Badiang in San Jose de Buenavista, while others are on-site registrations.

“The satellite registration is effective since the election officers could saturate the communities by bringing the services right there,” Villanueva said.

She said they are going massive with the satellite registrations, considering the three months and a half left before the Sept. 30 deadline.

The Register Anywhere Program of San Jose de Buenavista will be until Aug. 31.

“Comelec is reminding the voters to take time to register now and no longer wait for the last-minute rush,” Villanueva said.

The Antique Comelec, as of June 12, since the start of the registration on Feb. 12, registered 13,457 voters, comprising 6,682 males and 6,775 females. (PNA)
