MANILA – A mix of seasoned athletes and promising talents from here and abroad are expected to join the Sun Life 5150 Triathlon on July 14 at the Bellevue Resort in Panglao Island, Bohol.

The tournament featuring 1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10km run is on its second straight year.

Champions in the inaugural staging were John Leerams Chicano in the men's division and Erika Burgos in the women's division.

Foreign participants will come from Malaysia, Australia, United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, USA and other countries.

The race, which is sponsored by Sun Life Philippines and organized by The IRONMAN Group, promotes a healthy and active lifestyle among Filipinos.

Aside from the overall title, up for grabs are titles in age-group categories from 15-to-19 up to 65-69.

There are also relay competitions while the Sunrise Sprint (S2), a short-distance event covering 750-meter swim, 20km bike, and 5km run, is for beginners, budding athletes, and those looking to make a return to the sport.

Other scheduled events are the IRONMAN Davao on Aug.10, Dapitan 5150 on Sept. 8, and the Rock ‘N’ Roll Manila on Nov. 24. (PNA)
