MANILA – The Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology (PCIEERD) has tapped the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) to help them laymanize complex science and technology (S&T) information and communicate these to more people in the regions.

"This collaboration underscores PCIEERD's commitment to making S&T information more accessible and engaging for all Filipinos. By working closely with PIA, PCIEERD aims to foster a more informed and scientifically literate society, driving progress and innovation at every level," PCIEERD executive director Enrico Paringit told the Philippine News Agency on Monday.

PCIEERD and PIA signed a memorandum of understanding on June 28 during the former's 14th anniversary celebration.

Aside from laymanizing PCIEERD's news articles, Paringit said the PIA would help them plan and develop science communication strategies and publicity campaigns to raise awareness activities and programs at the grassroots level.

The PIA will also give technical assistance to develop communication materials on PCIEERD researches.

The PIA will also provide support such as event coverage and event invitations, and disseminate information among media organizations.

It will also raise public awareness on PCIEERD's programs and activities by posting these on the PIA website and social media platforms, Paringit said.

The PCIEERD will provide PIA, including regional offices, with news articles and event invitations.

Meanwhile, Paringit said in 2023, PCIEERD completed 256 research and development projects, and has allocated PHP1.9 billion for grants-in-aid fund. (PNA)
