Nearly 3M PhilID cards delivered in Bicol  

LEGAZPI CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Bicol reported on Wednesday that a total of 2,988,954 Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards or national IDs have so far been delivered throughout the region by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost).

In an interview on Wednesday, PSA-Bicol Regional Director Cynthia Perdiz said the agency intensified its partnership with PHLPost in efforts to ensure the delivery of national IDs in the six provinces, particularly to those in far-flung areas.  

"We will strengthen our partnership to address current challenges, and improve the efficiency and reliability of national ID delivery. We will ensure that the IDs will be delivered to the corresponding recipient as part of the contract between PSA and PHLPost. We also need to follow the guidelines of the Data Privacy Act," Perdiz said.  

She said as part of their efforts to allow registered individuals to use the national ID while waiting for the physical cards, they have electronic PhilIDs or e-PhilIDs printed on paper with the same functionality and validity. 

"We also tapped the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for digital cards that the public can use. An individual who completed the registration may track the status of delivery through the link http://tracking.phlpost.gov.ph/, of the Philippine Post (PHLPost)," Perdiz said.  

She added that some 4.8 million residents of Bicol are now registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) out of the 5 million target.  

"The completed registration accounts for 94.51 percent. With the inclusion of children aged one to four years old to be registered, we are expecting a higher number," she said.  

Perdiz said PSA-Bicol has used different approaches to reach the remaining unregistered residents. 

"We have this PhilSys on Wheels, barangays, and house-to-house interventions and we also joined the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) family development sessions to cater to more unregistered residents," she said. 

Perdiz also said that they will hire more than 5,000 enumerators and supervisors to conduct the 2024 Population Census and Community-Based Monitoring System. 

"We are open for those who want to join PSA as enumerators or supervisors during the census. We will conduct training for those who will be hired," she noted. (PNA)
