BUTUAN CITY – Caraga region's five provinces logged continuous revenue collection growth between 2021 and 2023, data from the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) showed.
“The BLGF indicators are for the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance Assessment of the Department of the Interior and Local Government,” said the BLGF report, a copy of which was obtained by the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday.
Agusan del Sur obtained the highest average growth rate over the period among the provinces in the region at 23.2 percent, followed by Dinagat Islands with 20.9 percent, Agusan del Norte with 17 percent, Surigao del Sur with 16.9 percent, and Surigao del Norte with 12.8 percent.
Agusan del Sur posted a 40 percent increase in collections in 2022 with a total revenue of PHP362,256,846 compared to PHP258,709,120 in 2021, and a 6.5 percent growth in 2023 with PHP385,786,879.
The province is among the top 10 richest provinces in Mindanao based on the revenue collection indicators released by the BLGF.
Meanwhile, Dinagat Islands logged a 38.2 percent revenue growth in 2022 with PHP59,361,715 compared to PHP42,939,540 in 2021, and a 3.5 percent increase in 2023 with PHP61,473488.
Similarly, Agusan del Norte indicated strong showings in revenue collections in the past three years posting a 15.2 percent growth in 2022 with PHP253,219,246 compared to PHP219,627,794 in 2021 and an 18.7 percent increase last year with PHP300,649,684.
Surigao del Sur likewise posted a 17.5 increase in 2022 with PHP104,651,228 in total collections compared to PHP89,002,686 revenues in 2021, and a 16.2 percent increase in 2023 with PHP121,639,419.
Surigao del Norte logged a 6 percent revenue increase in 2022 with PHP166,546,541 compared to PHP156,984,436 collections in 2021 and a 19.6 percent growth in 2023 with PHP199,215,182.
Butuan City also registered a 16.2 average increase in revenue collections in the past three years with PHP917,607,623 in 2023 compared to PHP754,488,352 in 2022 and PHP680,637,904 in 2021. (PNA)
